The Application of Systems Dynamics Principles and Methods to the Evolution of Open Source Software

The explanation of why some OSS projects fail whereas others rise to dominate their sector, could lie in a complex system of interactions between reinforcing and balancing feedback loops. Historical data for the relevant variables (i.e. "stocks" and "flows") would be essential in order to attempt to model the behavior of the system.
