The Complex Structure of Open Source Projects

This research project examines the complex structure of Open Source Projects as an online community movement as well as collective self-organizing knowledge. We are looking at the leading forces of Open Source Movement based on the reported choices of Open Source projects on intended audiences, topics, operating systems, programming languages, copyright licenses, and natural language interfaces.
We are also trying to find the structural changes of Open Source movement networks by examining network changes of Open Source Software knowledge over time. Complex nature of Open Source projects will be analyzed using various techniques of social network analysis methods. The Software Map data provided by SourceForge.net will be used for our research project.
