Spatial Patterns of Open Source Software
Sascha Frohwerk, University of Potsdam
The main goal of this project is to shed light on the spatial patterns of open source software development. In order to do so, the methodology proposed by Robles and Gonzales-Barahona (2006) will be used to identify the geographical distribution of programmers of single projects. The result should answer the question if teams are really spread over different cultural and geographical areas, as proposed by some OSS-advocators, or if space matters despite the internet-technology.
