Lee Sproull, NYU Stern School of Business
The first study will be a descriptive ecology of Open Source Software projects currently registered on SourceForge to identify important project characteristics that may affect project participation. In addition, general statistics will be identified such as participation across projects based on number of posts to the bug tracking system and number of CVS commits. The results from this descriptive ecology will be used to identify variables to be used in the second study, which will consist of a much more in-depth analysis of particular projects.
